The Sivananda school, founded by Swami Vishnudevananda disciple of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, is a tradition inspired by the classic yoga, one that covers all aspects of the traditional doctrines of yoga. Addresses with their practices, principles, training, workshops and courses, as well as their characteristics and spirit, each of the teachings and ways of yoga to provide comprehensive training. She teaches yoga as a lifestyle and a way to educate the mind, body and achieve spiritual evolution.
Tradition (today, the Organization International Sivananda comprising more than 80 centers and ashrams around the world) was founded in Quebec, Canada and was inspired spiritually Swami Sivananda Saraswati (1887-1963). This Indian – born spiritual master trained some of his disciples to share this wisdom in different parts of the world. Yoga training was rooted in the spiritual origins and a synthesis of the many traditions associated with this knowledge.
Swami Vishnudevananda (1927-1913) was one of his prominent disciples, a remarkable hatha yogi southern India who was entrusted with the mission to expand the principles of yoga and Vedanta in the West.
Although it seems a very methodical and practical system (based in twelve positions, five points of yoga and four roads), Sivananda is one of the most mystical traditions of yoga and whole world with pregnancy sportswear. At the heart of their practices and precepts is the wisdom of the ancient tradition of Vedanta, Ayurveda, yogic philosophy and ancient texts of India, among other bodies of philosophical, psychological, medical and spiritual knowledge.
The tradition is based based on the teachings of traditional Indian texts such as the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Besides this, the fundamentals of school also comprise the four paths of classical yoga : raja yoga, jnana yoga, karma yoga and bhakti yoga.
