Rivers, Vardar
Vardar
The longest river in the country is the Vardar with a length of around 388 km. The river has its source in the western high mountains near the border with Albania. The river flows through the entire country, first in a northeast direction and then turns in a southeast direction. It flows through the city of Skopje. After crossing the border, the river flows under the name Axios through Macedonia, which belongs to Greece, and then flows into the Thermaïschen Gulf in the Aegean Sea.

Lakes
Lake Ohrid
The country includes several lakes. The largest lake is Lake Ohrid on the border with Albania with a total area of about 349 km², of which about 2/3 belong to Macedonia.
Prespa Lake Prespa
Lake is located in the triangle of Macedonia, Albania and Greece. It covers an area of 275 km², of which around 190 km² belong to Macedonia. The lake has the greatest depth at around 55 m.
The two lakes are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites
