The island state lies, rounded up, on a geographical longitude between 171 ° and 173 ° West and a geographical latitude between 13 ° and 14 ° South, with American Samoa to the east. The highest point of the sun in Apia
Apia, the capital of Samoa, is located at a southern latitude of around φ = 14 °, in the middle of the tropics.

The highest mountain in the country is Mt. Silisili with a height of 1,858 m on the island of Savaií.
