The territory of the country is usually divided into four regions: Central Plains (where Bangkok is located), North, Northeast and South. All of them have their own cultural and natural specifics, and in order to get a complete picture of the diversity of the riches of Thailand, you need to visit each of them.
According to Top-mba-universities, the central region is rich in historical places, and the most important of them, of course, is the capital of Thailand – Bangkok. This city has many faces – there are Buddhist temples, skyscrapers, Chinatown, tourist areas, and extensive shopping streets.
In Bangkok there are more than 400 temples, among which the Grand Royal Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Temple of Dawn are considered the most beautiful. Here, masterpieces of sculpture, wall painting and numerous decorations are presented in abundance, demonstrating the unique achievements of the Thai nation in art.
Also noteworthy is the snake farm of the Pasteur Institute, where poisonous snakes are bred and poison is collected to make an invaluable medicine; the Jim Thompson House Museum, which houses a superb collection of Asian art; the glazed pavilion of Suan Pakkad Palace, decorated with medieval gold leaf frescoes; the world’s largest crocodile farm; open-air museum – Ancient city, covering an area of 200 acres.
In Bangkok excursions to the floating market are organized, where you can ride a boat through the canals and plunge into traditional Thai life; to the crocodile farm, considered the largest in the world; in the Rose Garden, made in the style of a traditional Thai village; to the Safari Park; dinner cruises on the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok ‘s main canal. In the vicinity of Bangkok, you can see a lot of interesting things – the Rose Garden (a tropical country park), Nakhon Pathom (the place where one of the tallest Buddha monuments is located), Kanchanaburi (a city famous for its bridge over the River Kwai), Ayutthaya (the former capital of the Thai state), Ratchaduri (a city that played a significant role in the history of Thailand), Phra Buddha Wat (there is an ark with a footprint of the Buddha), Erawan National Park, Khao Yai Park.
An amazingly beautiful journey is the journey along the River Kwai. This is an opportunity to look into the little-known and exotic places in Thailand.. The river passes through the jungle, during the trip you can admire the rainforests, a few villages of local residents, houseboats, elephants that go right up to the eyes into the river, and also see the natives of the local Mon tribe. The hotel in which travelers are accommodated for the night is very unusual. It consists of several rafts on the river, tied with ropes to the shore and connected to each other by passages, and there is no electricity in it. On the rafts there are wicker houses made of banana leaves and coconut wood. In the evenings, the hotel is lit only by kerosene lamps.
Northern Thailand is an integral part of the legendary Golden Triangle – the cradle of Thai civilization, where the first independent Thai states arose several centuries ago. The main city here is Chiang Mai.. It is famous for its historical temples built in the 13th century, handicrafts, settlements of nomadic peoples of Tibeto-Burmese origin in the past. In the heart of the Golden Triangle is the city of Chiang Rai, next to which the ancient city of Chiang Saen, famous for the Phra That Doi Tung temple, has been preserved. The temple is located on the top of a mountain, offering a wonderful view of the mountain peaks and villages of the Akha people. In this area, it is also worth visiting the cities of Phitsanulok, where the most beautiful Buddha statue is located; Lampang, the only city that still uses horse-drawn carriages; Nan, the site of the annual boat race, is also famous for the Phumin Temple with magical balustrades, the Naga Serpent and interesting frescoes.
Northeast attracts with wooded mountains, national parks, hilly peasant fields. Traces of the Ban Chiang civilization were discovered here – the most ancient culture of the Bronze Age, which arose more than 5.5 thousand years ago. This area is famous for various holidays and festivals: a beautiful Festival of Candles is held annually in Ubon Ratchathani, a festival of rain is held in the town of Yasokhoton, during which many pyrotechnic rockets fly into the sky, the town of Suri annually gathers visitors from all over the world – the traditional November Elephant Festival takes place here. Khao Yai National Park is spread across four provinces, where you can meet deer, bears, tigers, elephants, silver pheasants and other animals. In the province of Loei, there is another National Park – Phu Kra Dung. 56 km from the city of Nakhon Ratchasima is the town of Phimai, where a stone temple-castle of the 11th century is located. It is a fine example of classical Khmer architecture built outside Cambodia.
The eastern region is not very rich in historical sights. Among them, it is worth noting the city of Chanthaburi, where the largest Christian church in Thailand is located. The East is famous for its picturesque nature; there are several National Parks with waterfalls, pristine forests and uninhabited islands. You can also visit the Khao Khiao Zoo, where animals from Asia, Africa and Europe are collected; the province of Trat, famous for its Koh Chang National Marine Park; fishing village of Bang Sare, located 30 minutes drive from Pattaya.
South of Thailand – these are delightful beaches with white sand and lush tropical vegetation, as well as numerous islands, which are one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is worth visiting the Ranong resort, the only resort in Thailand with geothermal springs; Angthong National Park near the city of Surat Thani; the city of Songkhla, formerly a pirate fortress; the city of Trang, famous for the National Reserve with the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand; Krabi, home to one of the world’s three 75-million-year-old shell deposits

There are also unusual excursions, during which you can participate in services in Buddhist temples, train elephants, and learn traditional Thai massage.
